External Advisory Board
About the External Advisory Board
The 6G4Society project’s External Advisory Board (EAB) is a body comprising nine experts with a variety of backgrounds including wireless and telecommunications, academic research, European project management and regulatory aspects of telecommunications. Their role is to offer external counsel on the strategic direction of the project, as well as provide feedback on key project deliverables. The EAB therefore serves as an expert eye and external sounding board to ensure the project’s relevance and quality of output.

" In shaping 6G, my focus has always been on fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, blending wireless communications with business and regulation. This holistic approach, integrating environmental, social, and economic sustainability, is essential to ensure 6G truly serves society. "

" As coordinator of the SNS iTrust6G and BeGREEN projects, Gigasys Solutions is strongly committed to advancing 6G technologies. However, we recognise that addressing societal concerns — particularly those related to sensing, radiation, and EMF - requires more than technical innovation alone. Initiatives such as 6G4Society are therefore essential, providing the vital bridge to policymaking and regulation needed to secure public trust and ensure the responsible deployment of 6G. "

" At the Shift Project, we assess initiatives based on their contribution to the transition to a post-carbon economy. The market dynamics are so powerful in the digital sector that public policies are mandatory to drive change away from negative energy and climate impacts. 6G presents a critical and timely opportunity to fundamentally rethink our approach, ensuring that the digital, environmental, and societal transitions work hand-in-hand from the outset. 6G4Society is precisely the vehicle to translate this rethinking into reality. "

" At Ideas for Change, our research is exploring and addressing critical emerging concerns for 6G. We identify several areas that demand significant, dedicated investigation as this new generation develops. While the deployment of the extensive infrastructure of 6G will have its footprint, its justification lies in the profound societal benefits and efficiencies its services are expected to enable. Ultimately, the true acceptance of 6G won't stem merely from its technological prowess, but from what it empowers for every individual, while actively preventing any widening of the digital divide. "

" As coordinator of the project 6Green, I'm intensely focused on ensuring 5G and 6G core networks are not only environmentally sustainable but also enable sustainable services. Achieving true sustainability requires more than just powerful 6G systems; their immense capabilities must be effectively exposed and made appealing to service providers and end-users, so that these green benefits can be fully realized and adopted. This crucial effort aligns perfectly with the goals of 6G4Society in fostering a sustainable future for everyone. "

" With 6G, we have a significant opportunity to ensure sustainability benefits extend beyond developed societies to developing nations, some of which may even skip 5G entirely, much like the leap from 2G to 4G witnessed previously. It is crucial for the 6G community, and this project in particular, to proactively communicate the advantages of 6G from the outset, thereby avoiding misunderstandings and preventing future societal challenges. "

"At i2CAT and Citilab, our long-standing commitment has been to design and build a
future digital society that truly benefits people. 6G offers an unprecedented opportunity to redefine connectivity, making it more reliable, immersive, and globally impactful. The 6G4Society project is crucial for ensuring that this next generation of networks is developed with a profound understanding of societal needs, fostering open innovation, and empowering citizens to shape an inclusive, open, sustainable, fair, safe and secure digital future for all as proposed by the UN resolution on Global Digital Compact.
