As one of the most eagerly awaited telecommunications events of the year, the EuCNC (3-6 June 2024) is an essential platform that gathers cutting-edge research and hosts discussions about the latest results in 5G deployment, mobile IoT, 6G exploration and future communications systems. At this year’s edition in Antwerp, 6G4Society will be co-organising a 1.5 hour long special session about building a sustainable and socially accepted 6G for society.
The emergence of 6G technology presents an opportunity for researchers, innovators, and policymakers to address societal and environmental challenges overlooked by 5G. Ensuring that next-generation networks prioritize values such as privacy, safety, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability is a key challenge. This is the starting point for 6G4Society’s session.

After a key-note speech by Ilias Iakovidis (European Commission, European Green Deal Coalition), 6G4Society Project Coordinator Monique Calisti (Martel Innovate) will moderate a panel discussion with Chiara Mazzone (SNS JU Office at the European Commission, Project Officer 6G4society), Marja Matinmikko-Blue (University of Oulu), Margot Bezzi (CyberEthics Lab), Flavia Maragno (Digital for Planet), and Katrina Petersen (Public Safety Communication Europe).

The 2024 EuCNC & 6G Summit builds on putting together two successful conferences in the area of telecommunications: EuCNC (European Conference on Networks and Communications), supported by the European Commission, and the 6G Summit, originated from the 6G Flagship programme in Finland, one of the very first in its area. The conference is sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) and the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP), and focuses on all aspects of telecommunications ranging from 5G deployment and mobile IoT to 6G exploration and future communications systems and networks, including experimentation and testbeds, and applications and services. It brings together cutting-edge research and world-renown industries and businesses, globally attracting in the last years more than 900 delegates from more than 40 countries all over the world, to present and discuss the latest results, and an exhibition with more than 50 exhibitors, for demonstrating the technology developed in the area, namely within research projects from EU R&I programmes.
