SUMMARY:6G Forum
DESCRIPTION:Is it too early to be talking about 6G? The telco industry seems divided into two camps: those investing heavily in 6G R&D\, advocating for a more energy-efficient\, life-enhancing next generation of networks\, and those skeptical about the actual benefits and ROI of 6G\, especially as the industry still seeks to monetize 5G investments. \nBeyond the technological challenges\, commercializing 6G and convincing carriers to invest in this new technology present significant hurdles. RCR Wireless News’ virtual 6G Forum will address not only the question of “how do we do it?” but also “why do we need it?” \n\nJoin the event live on October 1st to join a variety of panel discussions\, presentations and interviews.

SUMMARY:Digital with Purpose - Global Summit 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Digital with Purpose Global Summit is embarking on a transformative journey as it makes its debut in the city of Cascais – Portugal. Recognized globally as one of the most sustainable and intelligent cities\, Cascais provides an inspiring canvas for an event that seeks to explore the nexus of technology and sustainability. \n\n\n\nOver the last couple decades a new trend has emerged that provides everyone with new opportunities – sometimes challenges – digitalisation. The Digital With Purpose Global Summit aims at putting innovation and digital solutions at the core of the sustainability agenda\, and sustainability at the core of the digital agenda. There is enough evidence that digital is the key to address the most pressing sustainability challenges and to empower worldwide leaders in building a more sustainable future. \n\n\n\nDiscover the event agenda here.

SUMMARY:Special Session at EuCNC: Towards a sustainable and socially accepted 6G for society
DESCRIPTION:As one of the most eagerly awaited telecommunications events of the year\, the EuCNC (3-6 June 2024) is an essential platform that gathers cutting-edge research and hosts discussions about the latest results in 5G deployment\, mobile IoT\, 6G exploration and future communications systems. At this year’s edition in Antwerp\, 6G4Society will be co-organising a 1.5 hour long special session about building a sustainable and socially accepted 6G for society. \n\n\n\nThe main objectives of this special session are to:Engage 6G stakeholders to actively participate in the conversation about societal and sustainability main challenges and priorities.Present the work and activities of relevance undertaken by the three projects organising the session and others in the broader scene.Gather input and feedback from the participants on the perception of 6G related to the topics of the environment\, health\, KVIs\, etc.Align on major relevant efforts at R&I\, policy\, regulatory levels. \n\n\n\nAs a basis for discussion\, the session organisers are working on an Extended Abstract (2 pages)\, that will propose specific questions and items for animating the discussion. The ambition is to then extend it into a longer White Paper that will include the main learnings and insights from the special session and possibly contribute to strategic roadmapping and recommendations for future investments.Besides one invited speaker\, Dr Ilias Iakovidis from DG CONNECT\, who is coordinating the work related to the European Green Digital Coalition\, the Project Officer of the 6G4Society project will also participate in the session bringing the input of the 6G SNS JU into the debates. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRead more about the event:

SUMMARY:ETSI Conference on “Non-Terrestrial Networks\, a Native Component of 6G”
DESCRIPTION:The ETSI Conference on “Non-Terrestrial Networks\, a Native Component of 6G” will take place face-to-face on 3-4 April 2024 in ETSI\, Sophia Antipolis\, France. \n\n\n\nThe conference is co-organized with the ESA \, 6G-IA and the SNS-JU. \n\n\n\nFrom NTN research to global standards\, plotting the trajectory to a fully connected planet\n\n\n\nNon-Terrestrial Networks have been part of 5G since 3GPP Rel-17 and the use of NTN related technologies enables global coverage for a wide range of applications that require both high availability and high resilience. \n\n\n\n6G will consider a native integration of NTN in the 6G system\, thus allowing the optimization of service delivery leveraging both terrestrial networks and non-terrestrial networks in 6G from the outset. In addition 6G NTN is expected to provide increased performances and service capabilities compared to NTN in 5G. \n\n\n\nAbout the Conference\n\n\n\nThis face-to-face event will offer attendees the unique opportunity to come together and exchange with experts\, network with peers\, and visit the dedicated project posters all focussing on the topic of Non-Terrestrial Networks for beyond 5G. \n\n\n\nThe event will foster discussions on the following topics: \n\n\n\n\n Targeted use cases that will be enabled by NTN in 6G\n\n\n\n Possible 6G architecture frameworks (including interfaces) enabling the native integration of the NTN components\n\n\n\n Candidate technologies/features for NTN in 6G\n\n\n\n Standardization approach (e.g. what\, where\, when) for NTN in 6G\n\n\n\n\nAdditionally\, the event will be an opportunity for research organizations (academia and industrial research) to discuss new trends and features in the field of NTN solutions in the perspective of standardization. \n\n\n\nPosters from the latest projects in the field NTN / satellite / 6G technologies may be provided to complement the conference programme. \n\n\n\nRegister now! \n\n\n\nThe detailed event programme including the conference agenda\, list of posters will be available in February 2024. \n\n\n\nParticipation to the event is open to all and free of charge upon registration. \n\n\n\nHowever the places are limited so remember to register your participation early in order to be part of the discussion. \n\n\n\nNote that the event is prepared with the support of the Horizon Europe 6G-NTN collaborative project and the ESA HELENA project.

SUMMARY:SNS Webinar – Introducing the Call 2 SNS projects
DESCRIPTION:The European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) is a Public-Private Partnership that aims to facilitate and develop industrial leadership in Europe in 5G and 6G networks and services. The SNS JU funds projects that shape a solid research and innovation (R&I) roadmap and deployment agenda by engaging a critical mass of European stakeholders and facilitating international cooperation on various 6G initiatives. \n\n\n\nIn January 2024\, the second phase of its 6G projects was launched\, which is critical in establishing a solid research and innovation (R&I) foundation for Europe\, defining the next-generation networks. \n\n\n\nWe are now introducing the recently launched projects in two webinars\, to give an overview of their activities and ambitions. \n\n\n\nThe second of these webinars is planned for Thursday 14/03/2024 from 13:00 CET to 16:20 CET. This second webinar will present Stream B2 (Wireless Communication Technologies and Signal Processing)\, B5 (Microelectronics-based Solutions for 6G Networks)\, B6 (EU-US 6G R&I Cooperation)\, C (Complementary SNS experimental Pan-EU federated Infrastructure)\, D (SNS Large Scale Trials and Pilots with Verticals) and CSA (SNS Societal Challenges) projects.
