The one6G Summit 2024, held in the vibrant city of Valencia, Spain, proved to be a significant event in the discourse on the future of connectivity. This year, the summit continued its tradition of leading conversations on 6G technology and its potential societal impact. 6G4Society Project Coordinator, Monique Calisti, presented during Session 2: “Global 6G Development – Part II” and addressed the crucial question: How can we harness 6G for society and the environment?
One6G Summit 2024 brought together leading figures from international industry forums, policymakers, and academics to discuss 6G’s transformative potential. The summit covered national strategies, regional research, and innovation actions, and highlighted the progress of enabling technologies and IMT2030 use cases. Co-located with the IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communications, the event gained additional significance by integrating diverse perspectives on the future of wireless connectivity.
Monique Calisti’s participation at the One6G Summit 2024 underscored 6G4Society’s strong commitment to embedding societal and sustainable values into the development of 6G technology. By bringing a sociological perspective to technological advancement, the project ensures that 6G evolves in a way that serves both societal and environmental goals.
6G4Society is also focused on understanding the factors influencing public acceptance of 6G, supporting the development of an EU consensus framework for a value-based, sustainable, and ethics-driven approach to its development and empowering the 6G community to align future technological progress with EU regulations and policy.
