Digital Digest January 2026

Reflecting on the 6G4Society journey

After 2 years of collaboration within the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) programme, the 6G4Society project has concluded.

Throughout the project, partners explored how future 6G networks can be designed to integrate societal values, sustainability, and public acceptance from the start. Through research, stakeholder dialogue, and international collaboration, 6G4Society has helped shape a more human-centric vision for next-generation connectivity.

This final edition of our Digital Digest highlights the key moments from the project’s final phase and invites you to explore the results still available to the community.

Final Event Highlights

Shaping a people-centred vision for 6G

On 15 December 2025, the 6G4Society consortium hosted its Final Event, bringing together stakeholders from across the SNS JU ecosystem, including researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives.

The event showcased the project’s main outcomes and reflected on how Europe can ensure that future connectivity technologies support social sustainability, trust, and public value.
Among the key results presented were:

  • The Social Acceptance of Technology (SAT) framework
  • The Key Value Indicators (KVI) / Key Societal Indicators (KSI) framework
  • Insights from the European Citizens Questionnaire
  • Policy-relevant reflections on responsible 6G development

Together, these outputs contribute to a growing effort to embed societal and environmental considerations into the design of future digital infrastructure.

Thank You for Being Part of the Journey

Over the past two years, 6G4Society has brought together researchers, policymakers, industry actors, and citizens to explore how emerging connectivity technologies can better reflect societal needs. We would like to thank our partners, collaborators, and community members who contributed to this dialogue. While the project formally concludes, the discussions and insights it generated will continue to inform the broader 6G research and innovation ecosystem.
