The 6G4Society project has released a deliverable that delves into the intricate relationship between 6G technology and the societal aspects in its development. This deliverable (D1.1 Societal aspects in 6G technology: concerns, acceptance models and sustainability indicators) sets the stage for a comprehensive exploration of 6G’s societal impact, values, and social acceptance. By examining these critical dimensions, it offers actionable frameworks to ensure that 6G development aligns with sustainability goals and resonates with public values.

What does this deliverable contain?

This deliverable focuses on deepening the understanding of the relationship between 6G and society, and on how 6G development can effectively integrate societal values and sustainability goals into technological development. The deliverable does so by analysing three interrelated concepts: societal impact, values, and social acceptance.

This document has produced three main contributions which will support stakeholders in embedding societal values and sustainability into the 6G innovation process:

A comprehensive analysis of societal impacts and controversies,
A guideline for Key Values and Key Sustainability Indicators (KVIs and KSIs),
The Social Acceptance of Technology (SAT) framework.

The deliverable also contains the main findings and prospective reflections considered critical for a responsible 6G-based innovation.
