6G4Society presented at the Public Safety Communication Europe (PSCE) Spring Conference
6G4Society was presented in Vienna at the Public Safety Communication Europe (PSCE) Spring Conference on 4 and 5 June 2024. The conference, organised by one of our consortium partners PSCE, touched upon two main topics: AI for Data Management (how AI could support the flow of massive data) and Satellite-Non terrestrial Communication. During the event, hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Defense, PSCE coordinator Marie-Christine Bonnamour introduced the project to the Conference guests focusing specifically on the project’s objectives and how the project is currently working to shape and contribute to a ‘sustainable and accepted 6G for society’.
A dedicated exhibition space was set up during the Conference and guests were invited to visit project posters and booths. 6G4S had the possibility to engage in some interesting exchanges with representatives from industries focusing on technologies for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR). The discussion focused on the expectations from 6G following the outcomes of the roll-out of 5G, the changes in 6G demand across sectors (e.g. the relevance of 6G across sectors and industries) and how the project is trying to gather more data on the social acceptance of technologies among the general population.
This space was also an opportunity to promote the 6G4S Citizen Survey, a unique opportunity for European citizens to share their experiences and opinions about current 5G technology and the upcoming transition to 6G. The aim of the Citizen Survey is to gather this input to then guide European Union policymakers and technology providers toward developing more inclusive and sustainable communication networks.
